In the early 2000s, I started working with teachers in Juneau schools to bring field sketching and science art into their classrooms. Over the next two decades, I developed and refined my own curriculum. As a Teaching Artist with the Alaska State Council on the Arts, I’ve had the privilege of traveling to schools all over the state—from Unalakleet to Seldovia to Wrangell—to offer art residencies and teacher trainings. I’ve also taught adult classes in field sketching and nature drawing at the University of Alaska Southeast. Contact me to ask about booking me as a school teaching artist or for an adult workshop. I enjoy both in-person and virtual instruction, and am happy to work indoors or outdoors.

If Gustavus is in your travel plans, and you’re interested in making a community connection, I offer local natural history tours and private lessons in field sketching. Send me an email with your questions and I can let you know about rates and availability.
