Inktober 10

“Shelter.” I started out with the idea of a hollow tree and went abstract.

Inktober 9

The two prompts today were “throw” (inktober.com) and “infectious” (GNSI). Here’s the mash-up that suggested to me. I realized after I did it that it might look like some kind of commentary on COVID, or baseball… I promise it’s not!

Inktober 8

I have fond memories of reading The Hobbit when I was a kid, but I also remember disliking the Bilbo Baggins “white horses on a red hill” riddle.

Still, it made a fun inktober challenge for the prompt “teeth.” Why aren’t the upper teeth also horses, you ask? That’s a riddle for which I don’t have an answer…

Inktober 7

The prompts today are “fancy” and “invertebrate.” If a flamboyant cuttlefish (Metasepia pfefferi) isn’t a fancy invertebrate, I don’t know what is!

Inktober 6

“Rodent.” I like the negative-space pattern on this one.

Inktober 5

Today’s prompt was “blade.” I thought about blade shapes, and that led me to think about all the different types of blades that I own, which prompted me to think of all the blades I used just today. Here they are: steak/paring knife, butter knife, roast carving knife (I used it for bread), X-acto knife, yoo katan litáa (curved wood carving knife), and scissors.

Inktober 4

It’s “radio” or “cellular” today. I guess this image could do for either…

Inktober 3

It’s fat bear week for fans of Katmai National Park. So I thought that this would be an appropriate subject for the prompt “bulky.”

Inktober 2

Today’s inktober.com prompt is “wisp.”

Inktober returns!

I had so much fun with Inktober last year… and I’m looking forward to this year’s prompts. I decided to play by the same rules this year: 3X5 card size, use either the inktober.com or GNSI prompt, and most importantly, do things I wouldn’t otherwise do: go really dark, go strange or funny, don’t worry about accuracy. So here’s today’s, and the prompt is “fish.”
